Proyecto 1 addresses malnutrition by harnessing the power of community organization and group education. We provide monthly workshops about nutrition, child development, and The 1000 Day Window of Opportunity that welcome low-income, low-literacy women into a comfortable and fun group learning environment.
Through guest speakers and volunteers, women receive life-changing information in a supportive and collaborative environment. As community bonds are strengthened through information, the women are asked to create their own sustainable plan for preventing malnutrition in their neighborhoods.
Women are encouraged to bring their children, especially those under age 5, to have their height, weight and health monitored. Children in need of additional medical support will be referred through our medical care partnerships.
